Life Experience

Hello everyone,

stress is a word commonly related to the inability of the human mind to cope with the past/present/future situations due to many factors such as the loss of the loved ones, broken family relationship, loss of income, mismatch expectations of family members, high debts due to uncontrolled spending by themselves or others, closures of business operations, health issues and the list goes on.

Here are some of case studies that we have encountered during our nationwide training programs on Stress Management. All of these case studies were shared with us prior to the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

CASE STUDY

A wife of 3 children attempted suicide due to work related stress. When we asked further to know what was the cause of her attempt, her answer was simple, her boss gave her too much of work pressure and expectations that she could not cope till it affected her consciously and sub-consciously.

Due to her emotional instability, it affected he relationship with her husband as well as their children in managing the household day-to-day chores.

Our training methodology for Stress Management program is fun in nature. This is to ensure the participants will enjoy the learning experience instead of making them more stressful during the session. As most of the participants smile and having good time together. Noticeably, this was not the case with the said woman. Her body language showed that she was a very serious person in nature and hardly putting up smile or laugh during the session. Later we found out that she had Bipolar Disorder and still in medication.

So how do we deal with this kind of situation at workplace? The boss is always right and the staff got to follow the instructions? What about personality conflict between her and the superior? Is there any better way to handle this scenario? There are many ways to handle this and most of you who are reading this case study, I believe, have multitude of options in solving the problem. Our intention of sharing this case study is not to choose the best solution for her; or who is right and who is wrong; but rather to share that these are some of the examples of life experiences that each os us go through separately in our tough daily lives. Imagine what will happen to the woman to the woman if her case continued to be left untreated and unchecked!

"Don't take people for granted. That's right. Don't. No matter how nice people appeared to be, the person has a limit". Remember that! Don't cross the limit. "Don't make unrealistic demands on others because one day they will snap! sooner or later, they will!" Don't forget we're only human- Mufti Menk.
